Boy On Billboard - March 13-16

Boy on Billboard is a new musical based on the true story of DFW resident James Apple, his family, and his battle with mental illness. The Dallas performance was produced by composer Lisa Apple, playwright Meg Parker Wilson, and producer Heath Bromley in partnership with Gallery DeFi.

The songs include “Wait With Me,” “Helping People,” and “Music in the Sky.” The performance followed a New York City debut and supported a planned 29-hour New York reading.

“James was full of life and lived each day to the fullest. We want this show to honor his life and who he was. I hope our story makes people feel seen and loved and know they are not forgotten or left behind,” says Lisa.

“We are thrilled to share ‘Boy on Billboard’ with our community,” says Meg. “This project is a labor of love, and we believe that it speaks to the experiences of many. Because it is based on a true story and exposes the realities of mental illness, we are seeing an incredible response.”

Admission included a seat for the musical, gallery access, and time with the cast. Ticket and art-sale proceeds supported the New York reading, including talent, performance space, and professional feedback.
