Gallery DeFi is a 16,000-square-foot contemporary art gallery at 2200 Evanston Ave. More than 50 artists are represented through immersive installations, original work, events, commissions, and projects inside and beyond the building.

How it started

Travis McCann and Kyle Sauter built Gallery DeFi in West Dallas.

They began working together on not.travis's art practice in early 2020 and expanded that work into a permanent gallery.

Travis and Kyle met at Texas State University when they were 18 and 19. Both grew up in DFW. Travis attended Grapevine High School and Kyle attended Hebron High School. In early 2020, Kyle began helping manage Travis's career as not.travis.

They handled artwork, strategy, production, installations, sales, and relationships together. They also saw recurring problems: artists created the work and carried the risk, but often had little control over presentation, sales, or what happened after an exhibition.

Over more than two years, they converted a former manufacturing building at 2200 Evanston Ave into Gallery DeFi. The gallery now combines immersive rooms, original art, public events, private programs, commissions, and artist collaborations.

The gallery was built to give artists more control over how their work is shown, sold, and carried into new projects.

Travis McCann works as not.travis across painting, photography, murals, sculpture, neon, installation, and digital media. At Gallery DeFi, he leads the creative direction of the space, exhibitions, artist presentation, and collector experience.

Kyle Sauter

Co-Founder + Director of Operations

Kyle Sauter began helping manage not.travis in early 2020. At Gallery DeFi, he oversees agreements, production, staffing, artist coordination, events, partnerships, and operational follow-through.
